Engaging Conservation is about building a collaborative network of organisations working to engage, and actively involve, people in taking care of their heritage. It’s looking at how we can build better public understanding of what conservation is about and share the skills for many more people to take an active part.
A series of linked events in 2014 will bring together partners working in locally-led and participative conservation practice and explore new pathways to building capacity. UK, EU and international partners are invited to contribute to the Engaging Conservation conference held jointly with ICOMOS-UK in York, 11 – 13 July 2014.
We will be:
- Developing collaborations between heritage and craft practitioners in community conservation projects across the archaeological and built heritage sectors
- Sharing and piloting engagement and impact methodologies and experiences with different stakeholders and audiences
- Identifying areas for future research, impact studies and community engagement in the UK and internationally.
